| | Ok...So we went to Club La Vela AGAIN and we began talking to people. They were more open this time around. We got through surveys and booklets, we prayed for a few people. But one thing captured our experience there. There was this group of people holding signs saying things like... "God hates you" "Youre going to Hell" As they marched along the beach, people would get angry and steal the signs, smashing them and throwing them into the ocean.
^^the guy here was holding the last sign, because he was tall, no one could take his sign. He held a video camera and recorded the angry mob. People began arguing with the extremist group. Back and forth they went. "God hates you" "but GOD IS LOVE!" screaming at each other at the top of their lungs. I feel bad, for this girl. She was with the extremist group, we assumed that the tall guy was her father. They preached a "turn or burn," "in your face" gospel. They were not very effective, they did not share about solution to sin, they made no mention of Jesus. That sort of message gives Christians a really bad reputation, of being narrow minded and unloving.
There was one sign that read "God hates you, repent" That got me kind angry. If God hated me, why on earth would i want to repent? Its an inaccurate depiction of my God, i got mad. The sign should read "God loves you, repent!"
There was fight that broke out, the Coast Guard, the nearby army booth members came, club la vela security, and the police had to break up the fight.
After everything settle i got a chance to talk to the girl that was in the extremist group. They seemed to know their doctrine, but they missed the point. YES GOD HATES SIN, HE CANNOT STAND IT. However, He hates sin, but loves the sinner. Jesus came to seek and to save that which was lost, not to condemn them. Like a parent loves their child despite wrongdoings, so God loves us. Jesus overcame sin, sinners can be reconciled. But causing a riot, and declaring a cult-ish message, and then calling it God's work? You've got to be kidding me.
After that, people were open to discussing God. Many Campus crusade groups had been at La Vela all week, and some noticed that the Campus Crusaders were different from the "people with the signs." That was one good thing that came out of the crazy mess. Glory to God!
On the last day, God gaves us three breathtaking sunsets in a single evening! Here they are.

And so the sun sets on another spring break.
Hopefully with many more awesome experience to come. Thanks for reading!
